Anastasia Vlasova is a Ukrainian photojournalist based in Kyiv.
She is currently covering different aspects of Russia’s war in eastern Ukraine. She has covered the EuroMaidan Revolution, Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the shoot-down of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 near Donetsk in July 2014.
Anastasia’s work focuses on the humanitarian aspects of war, gender issues and the issues of adulthood in the war-torn areas.
Vlasova’s photojournalism has won several awards, among them the gold for College Photographer of the Year’s spot news category and the bronze at Picture of the Year International’s spot news category, honorable mention at 2015 Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award and became a finalist for Leica Oscar Barnack Award in 2015 and World.Report Award Documenting Humanity in 2017.
Vlasova has a master’s degree in journalism from the Institute of Journalism at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. She is a 2015 Magnum Foundation Photography and Social Justice Fellow at NYU and the XXVIII Eddie Adams Workshop participant.
